Broadcast Hearts is a three-piece, pop-rock band from Trumbull, Connecticut. Formed in 2009, the group comprises Avery Bazan (lead vocals, piano), Ted Ferik (drums), and Justin Molfese (backing vocals, bass guitar).

The keys-based group engages a dynamic sound and style, drawing influence from acts such as Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, and OneRepublic. Contrasted by leading piano and synths, the band presents a wide range of music from anthems to ballads. The band has enjoyed success in various venues across Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

In 2009 Avery Bazan met Ted Ferik when the two began playing music together. They brought on Avery's roommate Justin Molfese on the bass, along with high school friend Conrad McKenzie on synthesizer, and Broadcast Hearts was born. Stemming from the collection of songs Bazan had written starting the end of high-school, Broadcast Hearts began expanding the sound of the old material and creating new music.

That summer Broadcast Hearts played venues across Connecticut, meeting with positive reviews and opportunities for more shows. In 2010 they expanded to New York and began work on their first EP. During that time Conrad left and was replaced by Chris Parian. Recorded in dorm rooms and basements, the "Beginnings EP" was released in 2011. It enjoyed
radio play on stations in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Colorado and Ireland.

As Avery and Justin finished their last year of college, the members of Broadcast Hearts moved in together to further develop their passion and relationships as a band. With the guidance of seasoned music veterans, they were given the opportunity to professionally record their second EP in 2012 after raising $10,000 on Kickstarter. The "Anchor Rising" EP was recorded at Storefront Music in Manhattan, and was produced by Adam Elk of "The Mommyheads." The EP was released in 2013 and has enjoyed more radio play and response. In that time Chris moved on from Broadcast, while Avery, Justin and Ted chose to keep the group to its core trio.

Today Broadcast Hearts continues to play shows and make friends. They sing about looking ahead, looking up, and keeping on. Their shows are energetic and their songs are earnest. The band has developed a small, sincere following in the Northeast and plans to continue spreading their message.

Broadcast Hearts is a group united by music, and pushes to explore the potential in their art. Still, every journey can have many goals. Being given the opportunity to follow their own dreams, the band has chosen to support the International Justice Mission (IJM) in their own small way. By raising awareness and aid to the workers of IJM, they hope to further the progress that is being made accross the globe against human trafficking, if only modestly at modest beginnings. Here are a few words from IJM about who they are:

"International Justice Mission is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems."

"IJM's justice professionals work in their communities in 12 countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America to secure tangible and sustainable protection of national laws through local court systems."

Broadcast Hearts believes in the work these individuals are doing, and would invite you to believe as well. To find out more about IJM, visit their site HERE and consider supporting their work.
